As summer seems to be well and truly here the meadows are looking gorgeous – despite the lack of rain.
There is a huge variety of grasses, daisies, clover and the odd pyramidal orchid.
The beauty of this all is the abundance of wildlife taking advantage of the crop – there are bees buzzing on the clover in great clouds, butterflies darting around and dragonflies on the perimeter of the ponds.
It truly is a wonderful place to walk through and spend time in.
In the coming weeks, the crop will be cut, turned and baled and stored for winter feeding of the cattle. It’s wonderful to be self sufficient and to benefit nature at the same time.
