One of my favourite days of the year - the first f One of my favourite days of the year - the first forage for wild garlic.

It’s still a bit early. A lot of the leaves are still small but I found enough to make a chicken, buttermilk (courtesy of @fenfarmdairy) and wild garlic pie. 

What are your favourite wild garlic recipes? Later in the season I will make wild garlic pesto, tear and share wild garlic bread and wild garlic butter…

Some of the plants are dying back and some are still throwing out smaller and smaller blooms. 

This year I’m toying with the idea of leaving the tubers in the ground as I’ve finally found the space in the garden where they thrive.

From a tree full of pears we have rescued three from a blaze of wasps, fruit flies and hornets.

I have plans for curried parsnip and pear soup and then poached pears with sea salt ice cream.
