We had flurries of snow yesterday, but this morning we woke up to around three inches of the white stuff courtesy of the Beast from the East.
The farm was covered in a glorious blanket of snow.
It clung delicately to branches and had been whipped into peaks on the ground by a gentle wind.
It was simply beautiful. We immediately headed outside for a walk and almost straight away the dogs were off and out of sight, manically tearing through the powdery snow -they absolutely loved it.
In fact, lots of wildlife was out and about in the sunshine – rabbits, hares, deer and even the farm cat…
On our return I fed the cattle and had to break the ice on their water. They seemed a bit unsure of the snow that had blown into the shed but were warm and happy inside.
Later on I need to sort out their water feed which seems to have frozen in the pipes, the water troughs will need topping up straight from the borehole.
In the meantime I’ve been busy walking for hours with the dogs, enjoying the heat of the sun and building snowcows…
We keep seeing spells of sunshine followed by more snow flurries, I wonder what tomorrow will bring…
Aren’t you lucky to have snow. We are still waiting for the white stuff in my part of Devon. I am ever hopeful though. Love your blog and the photos.
